iOS 18.1 Fixes Bug Causing iPhone 16 to Randomly Restart

iPhone 16

Apple’s latest iOS 18.1 update addresses a significant bug affecting some iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models that caused random restarts. Users reported instances of their iPhone displays becoming unresponsive or slowing down, followed by unexpected restarts, which occurred both during regular use and in StandBy mode. Some users experienced frequent restarts, up to 20 times a day.

The iOS 18.1 update, released today, includes a fix for this issue, along with other improvements. Additional bugs addressed in the update include:

  • A fix for Podcasts, where unplayed episodes were incorrectly marked as played.
  • Resolution of a Photos app issue that caused stuttering or overheating when scrubbing through 4K 60 fps videos.
  • A solution for problems with digital car keys, which could fail to unlock or start vehicles after restoring from a backup or transferring data from another iPhone.

This update is now available as part of the iOS 18.1 release, aiming to improve stability and performance across affected devices.
