Poland’s Space Agency (POLSA) has confirmed that it is investigating a cybersecurity breach that forced it to disconnect its network from the internet. The attack, detected on Sunday, has left POLSA’s website offline as authorities work to restore services.
Poland’s digital minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, revealed that state cybersecurity services had detected “unauthorized access to the Polish Space Agency’s IT infrastructure.” Efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators behind the attack, though no official details have been disclosed regarding its nature or scope.
This incident comes amid increasing cyber threats against Poland. Gawkowski previously described the country as the “most attacked in the European Union” regarding cyber incidents, frequently attributing such breaches to Russian-backed hacking groups. Last year, Polish authorities accused APT28, a Russian military intelligence-linked group, of targeting the nation’s critical infrastructure.
As Poland strengthens its cybersecurity defenses, this latest breach highlights the persistent threats facing governmental agencies in an era of escalating cyber warfare. Investigations remain ongoing as officials seek to mitigate any potential impact.
